Poem #71

Affairs and Eros errors…

for Milton

When Adam and Eve in glee
of Eden, and Satan whom rapes her dreams,
in the tree, Adam woke to see,
he would give hospitality to any
the father made out of chaos and black cream.
No more could husband and wife
live where sun, covered with clouds, turned to rain.

God appear, and sayeth amid strife:
“Take your mate, tho you do not know this new found pain,
“and be safe.” And seeing the ape take from the tree and learn of grief,
woman and man had to find their feet, even when Satan’s son Cain
killed brother Able. When the eater of the leaf
learned love the father gave them reason.
It was good and not a sin.
