Poem #70

Last love…

To love like this takes diligence:
refrain keeps him in her.
She hasn’t been on her knees since.

Someday, you want that picket fence.
His hand struggles, embarrassingly, finding no dollar.
To love like this takes diligence:

imagine picking up someone’s undies for life sentence.
If Romeo was washing dishes the morning after
……………………………………………………………
She hasn’t been on her knees since.

The standard for living so increasingly tense
Apollo was not fit for the war.
To love like this takes diligence:

King Arthur’s chivalrous acts ensuing violence,
in dreams, if with her king stays there.
She hasn’t been on her knees since

in matins; pleadingly, some stallion would end undying silence.
This art came before her.
To love like this takes diligence:
she hasn’t been on her knees since.
