Poem #28

[There is not enough time in the day]

There is not enough time in the day
to do all the things
of which Earth sings
so that things are made into beings.

There is not enough time in the day;
ideas of beings grown
they take up lives of their own:

the chiggers or fleas of an uncut lawn,
the labor of brawn,
one and every chore,
the going and coming to and from the store,

there is not enough time in the day.
I forgot a loved one behind a door.

To always remember the ones you adore,
you must make time in the day.
Slow down; do for them something
little by name to wake together at morning.
